Educators in districts along the Miramichi River and in rural Kent County report the highest turnover of bilingual staff, while urban Moncton schools absorb most provincial professional development allocations. Students whose first language is French but who attend English-dominant schools in the southeast consequently show lower rates of French literacy maintenance, according to the Department of Education's annual language assessment. Families in these mixed-language households face repeated administrative navigation between separate English and French curriculum offices.

The available funding supports joint proposals that require documented cross-system collaboration between English and French district leadership. Eligible projects must allocate at least 40 percent of resources to shared digital language tools hosted on a single platform accessible to both linguistic sectors. Applicants must also submit letters from both an English and a French district confirming joint governance of the proposed activities.

Applications that focus solely on one linguistic sector or that duplicate existing provincial immersion seats will not advance.
